I want to study for 6 months or more (Student Visa)

If you are from a Visa National Country and want to study at NSL on a course which is longer than 6 months, you will need to apply for a Student Visa (General Student Visa or Adult Student Visa). The UK visa system is now called the Points Based System and students are in the Tier 4 category.  In order to apply for a visa under the Points Based System you will need a sponsor who is on the Register of Sponsors and can issue you a confirmation of acceptance for studies (CAS).

For NSL to be your sponsor and issue you a CAS we will need you to provide us with the following information:

• Your course application completed in full. Make sure you tell us the date you would like to start your course and the number of weeks you would like to study with us.
• A copy of your passport, showing your photograph and personal details.
• Documents to show your current level of English (these must be in English, translated by a professional translator). We require students to provide us with evidence that they have completed a Secure English Language Test (SELT) and have achieved the results required by UKBA. You can see the exams here www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/.../new-approved-english-tests.pdf. If you have not done any of the exams, we recommend you take the IELTS exam.

Once we have received the required documents we will make an appointment for you to have a Skype interview with our Principal. You will also be asked to complete NSL's placement test. If we are happy with the results of all the tests and the interview, as well as being happy that you fulfil all the criteria for being a Tier 4 student, we will send you a conditional offer letter.

Once we have received a deposit/payment for your course (as stated in your conditional offer) we will issue you with a CAS.

The CAS must be presented with your visa application, along with the original documents you showed as evidence of your English level. You will also need to show that you have enough money to cover your course costs and monthly living costs (£600 per month outside London).

When you arrive at NSL we will need to check your original documents to ensure that you are eligible to study in the UK. We will need to keep copies of your visa and identity documents (eg. Passport). If you do not have the correct immigration status to study you will not be able to start your course at NSL. You will also need to make sure that we have your correct address and telephone number, and make sure you tell us if these change.

Please note that NSL has a strict attendance policy and will report any unauthorised absences to the UKBA. If you do not arrive for your course within 10 days of the agreed start date you will be reported to UKBA. You will also be reported to UKBA if you finish your course early.
